Blue Devils Drop Tight Game to Greenwich

The Blue Devils, the Norwalk Junior Soccer Association's under-10 boys travel team, finished their season Sunday with a 6-1-1 record. Norwalk lost its last game, 1-0, against Greenwich. It was the team's only loss.

The first half was scoreless, with Norwalk controlling the ball most of the time. Greenwich scored 20 minutes into the second half. Although the Blue Devils had more shots on goal, they could not score.

Norwalk, part of Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Southwest district, finished the season with the third best record of 16 teams in its division.

"They are a very physical and athletic team," Blue Devils coach Peter Blair says. "They were able to keep the ball on their opponents' side the majority of the games and control the flow of the game."

Players are moved around to different positions frequently, Blair adds. "We used this season to build depth as a team."

The 12 members of the Blue Devils include Connor Belcastro, Marcus Blair, Edward Boccanfuso, Kristo Boci, Brendan Duddy, Christian Gavrielidis, Evan Guerrera, Jonathon Jimenez, Altair Martin, Jeffrey Ramirez, Eduardo Vargas and Liam Willkehr.
