A Dozen Harrison Seventh-Graders Advance To Geography Bee Finals

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Twelve seventh-grade students from Louis M. Klein Middle School participated in the local portion of the National Geography Bee and were named finalists on Friday, Jan. 23.

The students were chosen from preliminary competitions held in their social studies classes to compete in this year’s final competition.

The finalists were Cody Eskandarian, Angel Chavez-Ferreira, Shai Gropper, Christian Ivezaj, Claire Kidd, Lydia LaBelle, Noah Malin, Adam Roos, Josh Simmons, Phoebe Streeter, Hiroto Tachibana, and Penelope Zenhausem.

After numerous rounds of competition only Phoebe Streeter and Angel Chavez-Ferreira remained.

Streeter successfully identified Scandinavia as the name of the peninsula where Norway is located.

Streeter earned the right to advance to the next level of the competition, which is a written examination. If she advances past the written exam, she will have the opportunity to compete at the state level.
