Jean Ann Swartz denies that she took $300,000 plus from a nephew and then failed to report the money to the state tax authorities, lohud.com reported.
Swartz, 65, who taught English at Harrison High School until 2004, has been active in civic organizations such as a children’s center and a public library, the lohud.com article said.
Out on $25,000 bail, she is due back in court on Tuesday, June 28, lohud.com reported.
