This is the second year in a row that Parsons has competed in this event and they have placed in the top five each year.
This year’s Harrison Cental School District's team members were Charles Zenhausern, Hailey Helmer, Vanessa Loguidice, Dylan Bourke, Jacob Gold, Chisato Kashi and Galle Blaustein.
Destination Imagination is a competition that includes almost all components of learning: writing, reading, mathematics, science and the arts. This year the students were given the challenge titled “In Plain Sight” and were asked to create a performance around the idea of camouflage.
“Our team members had to research and choose a type of camouflage seen in nature and design a story in which their camouflage results in a plot twist,” said Catherine Egan, Parsons teacher and Destination Imagination adviser. “The Parsons students chose to design their story around the mimic octopus, which uses aggressive mimicry to camouflage itself in nature.”
