Marching Band Director Charles Briem noted that performances such as these are aligned with the district’s mission to provide meaningful experiences on a national stage.

“The UBS Parade Spectacular in Stamford has become a powerful vehicle for us in this regard,” Briem said in a statement. “Our students experience a 'big-time' parade with hundreds of thousands of spectators and have the unique opportunity to present themselves visually and musically in a high-pressure performance setting."

The Harrison Marching Band has participated in the Stamford spectacular every year for the past five years. It will join 10 other award-winning high school bands from New York and Connecticut, including Stamford High, along the parade route.

The parade route starts on Summer Street at Hoyt and ends on Atlantic Street. Step-off is at noon.

Among the many balloons, Babar and Badou, Foofa and Plex from Yo Gabba Gabba, and Smurf will maketheir debut this year.

Former New York Knick basketball player Allan Houston will be this year’s Grand Marshal and Alan Kalter of the “Late Show With David Letterman” will return as master of ceremonies.
