Representatives with the high school said many students in the band "will perform in the town’s 2013 Veterans Day parade with a heightened appreciation of the sacrifices of local veterans," according to a press release. The Harrison High School Band performed at the 50th anniversary ceremonies for the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on Dec. 7, 2012, according to the press release.

"Selected from among top bands across the United States, the Harrison High School band, color guard and majorettes participated in a parade honoring those lost during the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, as well as United States war veterans," representatives said in the release. "History came alive for the students with visits to numerous historical sites and a special opportunity where students met WWII veterans face to face and thanked them for serving."
