The association said The Husky Herald “Shows the creativity and journalistic knowledge of its editors, reporters, writers, photographers, layout and graphic designers and adviser.”
Husky Herald adviser Gary Glauber said the staff recently revamped the paper by updating graphics, changing column sizes, improving captions, and introducing an editorial section.
The paper is published by students taking Harrison High School journalism classes and local volunteers who attend weekly meetings. The editorial board reflects the opinions and views of the staff and not necessarily that of the Harrison High School faculty and administration.
The Husky Herald is published four times a year. Copies of the paper can be found on the district website under the Harrison High School tab and in the Quick Links section on the right-hand side of the page under school publications.
The Husky Herald’s current staff includes editor-in-chief Ariel Coonin and managing editor Clarissa Karantziz.
The American Scholastic Press Association evaluates publications on a point system and awards first, second and third places in its classification. The association focuses on page design, story layout, graphics and other categories. Its panel of judges includes educators and faculty advisers for scholastic publications, according to the organization’s website.
