Harrison High School Ranks Among New York State's Best

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Harrison High School was named the 25th-best public high school in New York State by education research website Niche.

High schools were ranked on a set of six weighted criteria that included:

  • Academics
  • Health and safety
  • Student culture and diversity
  • Survey responses
  • Teachers grade
  • Resources and facilities
  • Sports and fitness

Harrison excelled in nearly every category, earning an A+ rating in  teachers grade and health and safety. The school of 994 students only lagged in culture and diversity with a grade of B-.

In addition, Harrison boasted a 91 percent graduation rate, well above the national average of 81 percent. 

Harrison also ranked above the national averages in SAT scores (1820) and ACT scores (28).

Rye High School took the top spot for Westchester schools and was ranked fourth overall in the state. 

Westchester high schools figured prominently in the survey with nine schools placing in the top 25:

  • Rye High School (No. 4)
  • Horace Greeley (No. 5)
  • Edgemont Junior/Senior High School (No. 6)
  • Scarsdale Senior High School  (No. 8)
  • Blind Brook High School (No. 9)
  • Bronxville High School (No. 13)
  • Rye Neck Senior High School (No. 15)
  • Byram Hills High School (No. 20)
  • Harrison High School (No. 25)

Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan took the top overall spot for New York State.
