“All throughout her French career here in HHS, Sammie has shown serious commitment, passion and unbending talent in her learning of the French language and Francophone cultures,” said French teacher Susie Michel. “This award absolutely has her name on it because, besides being co-President of the French Club and spending a summer studying in France, Sammie simply embodies a French persona all her own.”

Miles will attend the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University in the fall. She will continue studying French and anticipates studying an additional language.

To qualify for the award, a student must have an A average in French and a B average overall. The student must also demonstrate commitment to the study of the language inside the class as well as outside.
