By next month, hell be a Harrison High School graduate. And by the end of the year, hell be well into his college career at Nashvilles Vanderbilt University. But on Thursday, the day of his high school prom, Nick Lovinger couldnt have sounded more excited about the unfolding events that comprise prom night. Its crazy, he said. Im just trying to take it all in and enjoy my last couple of weeks. Senior year has been really fun.Lovinger said he plans on studying economics while at Vanderbilt, but isnt limiting himself just yet. There are a ton of things I want to do there, he said. Im going to take different classes, explore, and see whats out there.Brian Lobel is also a Harrison senior and grew up with Lovinger, and met him while attending Purchase Elementary school. He will be attending SUNY Albany in the fall.Hes a great kid and he has a good future, he said. He has a good head on him.Lovinger played first base for the Harrison HS baseball team, something he called the best part of high school, and said he also plans on pursuing the sport in college. His younger brother Tom, a sophomore at Harrison, also plays football, a sport his brother doesnt plan on missing.Ill still be at the rivalry Harrison and Rye games for my brother, Lovinger said. My group is always in the stands cheering them on. Were probably the most annoying fans in the section.Though he was born in Rye, and spent some of his earliest years in London with family, Lovinger said he was thankful to be a Harrison native. Its a tight community, he said. Ive always felt it had great people and good schools.
