“We want to really help the students at Harrison High School,” said young adult librarian Marilyn Horton. “We want to offer things they need and want. This is something that’s important to them – taking the SATs and doing well – so we want to help them with their scores.”

The Kaplan Test Prep-sponsored event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and combines both high school standardized exams to see on which test the student performs better.

By signing up, students can “experience each ACT and SAT section, receive a detailed analysis of your performance on each test and improve your score with our exclusive strategies,” said a Kaplan flyer.

“The more experience the better,” Horton said of preparing for the real exam. “I think that if they go in knowing what to expect, they’ll do better. Not to worry, but to just have a feel for what you’re going to be coming up against is good.”

When the library was first contacted by Kaplan about the opportunity last year, Horton said she “was excited and jumped on it.”

While 15 students showed up to the first free exam last September, Horton is hopeful even more will sign up for the winter exam.

To enroll up, you must call 1-800-KAP-TEST or the library at 914-835-0432. You can also sign up at kaptest.com/practicetest.
