Harrison Residents Earn College Diplomas

HARRISON, N.Y. – Several Harrison residents took the next step in their young lives by earning college degrees over the past week.

Ikuno Naka earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations history from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass. Naka also received the Barnette Miller Prize for distinction in her major, one of 66 prizes awarded to seniors in a class of more than 600 students.

Two Harrison residents graduated from the University of Rhode Island. Both Amy Gencarelli and Melania Malavazos graduated summa cum laude, meaning they had grade point averages of at least 3.7. Gencarelli earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, and Malavazos received a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies and French.

Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y., awarded Bachelor of Arts degrees to three Harrison residents. Diana Curtis got hers in English and philosophy, while Edward Perley III earned his in philosophy and religion. Devin Peng was awarded the same degree in Asian studies.

Diana Bohorquez of West Harrison graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., where she focused on international, global and Italian studies.
