Citing 2014-15 statistics from the state Teachers Retirement System, lohud.com reported that Louis Wool made $359,325 as head of Harrison schools, and Nancy Taddiken, who is retired from the Edgemont district, had a pension of $236,180.

There are 300,000 full- and part-time educators in the state and the average salary is $60,000 while the average pension is $43,000 (there are about 143,000 retirees), the lohud.com article said.
