Harrison Sixth-Grade Musicians, Singers Perform

HARRISON, N.Y. - Louis M. Klein Middle School sixth-graders followed last week's concert by their seventh-grade peers with one of their own Thursday night, as the sixth-grade's band, orchestra and chorus performed their annual Spring Concert.

The Sixth-Grade Band, under the direction of Robert Sachs, started the show with a medley of songs from iconic rock band Queen and finished up with contemporary classic "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga.

Directed by Charlie Bennett, who is in his first year in the school, the Sixth-Grade Orchestra kept the rock theme going with the '80s staple song, "Eye of the Tiger" from the 1982 blockbuster movie "Rocky 3," featuring Sylvester Stallone, Mr. T and Hulk Hogan. The orchestra was followed by the Sixth-Grade Chorus, under the direction of Cris Spinner, who sang modern hits like "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield and "Firework" by Katy Perry.

"These kids love to sing, and it shows," Spinner said after the chorus' performance was finished.

The show concluded with the orchestra and chorus teaming up to perform Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror." The Seventh-Grade show had featured a medley of Jackson's songs the week before.

"Just remember that these are only sixth-graders," said Principal Scott Fried. "They did a great job."
