Harrison to Honor Senior Athletes Thursday Night

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Harrison High School will honor its senior student athletes Thursday night at the high school as they recall their careers as a Husky and look forward to the future.

The awards banquet will begin at 7 p.m. at the school, where student/athletes from all three sports seasons will be honored.

This year, Harrison had five student athletes receive scholarships to Division I schools. Matthew Carducci will continue his swimming career at Lehigh University. Carducci will be joined by classmate Ben Konigsberg at Lehigh who will be on the school’s track team. James “J.T.” Nangle will be swimming for Bucknell University next year while Michael DiTursi will relocate to Florida to golf for Rollins College. Though a soccer injury kept Nina Sarmiento from competing on the track team this season, she still earned a spot on the track team at the University of Binghamton.

“As parents, you think back to the days of driving your child to practice at 4 a.m.,” said Athletics Director Patricia Seligman last month at National Signing Day. “Think of all the sacrifices over the years. Your kids got through it to get to this point."
