WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Grab your water bottle, a towel and your friends and join Zumba Fitness instructors Nick Logrea, Shahidah Ansari, Eddie Calle and Toni Rubio as they host Ready to Zumba, a fundraiser to support Ready to Empower.

The event will be from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 at Manhattanville College in Purchase. It is sponsored by CLAY Health Club + Spa. Each attendee will receive a two-week trial for the Port Chester-based spa. Event tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased online atreadytoempower.eventbrite.com or on the day of for $25. This is the first U.S. fundraiser for Ready to Empower. The nonprofit organization was founded in 2013 by Amanda Ready, one of Westchester Business Council’s 2014 "40 Under 40 Rising Stars."

While helping orphanages in Bajo Tejares, Costa Rica, on a volunteer trip during the summer of 2013, Ready found the needs of women were overlooked. They were uneducated, without adequate healthcare and living in poverty with no long-term support. Using her skills and knowledge as social worker, Ready was able to set up small support systems and Ready to Empower was born, serving a group of 25 women. Today, it serves more than 200 women in need.

In addition to a Fitness & Wellness program, Ready To Empower also offers a Work For Service program, Healthcare program, Mental Health & Social Services and an Emergency Relief Fund. Up until September 2014, when the nonprofit received its 501(c)3 tax-exempt status, the operation costs were being funded solely by Ready and a few supporters.

“There are so many women in need, which is why we have grown so quickly,” Ready said.

For those unable to attend the event, donations also can be made at readytoempower.eventbrite.com . A $20 donation will pay for one woman’s medication for a month; $30 will pay for a general doctor visit; $50 will provide secure home locks to prevent repetitive break-ins; and $100 will provide one week of groceries for a family of eight.

Event tickets can be purchased online through March 14. Event registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the party starts at 1 p.m. The days festivities include a 50/50 Raffle and a raffle for a chance to win Clay Health Club + Spa’s Immersion package (an $1,100 value).
