HARRISON, N.Y. -- The Manhattanville College board of trustees has elected Don Callahan, head of operations and technology for Citi, as its new chairman.

He will replace Robert Hall, whose term expired after serving as chair since 2008. Callahan has been on Manhattanville’s board for 11 years.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Don assume this key leadership position for the college,” said Manhattanville College President Jon C. Strauss. “He represents three generations of Callahans attending Manhattanville and is very versed on the challenges and opportunities that the college faces along with many other small private liberal arts institutions.”

Callahan graduated from Manhattanville with a Bachelor of Arts in history. He was preceded by his mother, Mary J. Callahan, and followed by his son Peter Callahan, who is a member of the graduating class of 2014.

“I am honored to serve as chairman and look forward to the challenges and opportunities that Manhattanville faces,” said Callahan.

“As a board, we will seek to maintain the academic excellence and unique traditions that have kept Manhattanville both viable and vibrant.”

Callahan joined the global bank in 2007 and is a member of its operating committee. He is responsible for the management of global operations and technology, in addition to serving as chair of the chief infrastructure office, which sets global standards for all technology throughout Citi. He also leads Citi’s data management program, serves a chair of its digital governance office and is responsible for general business services, which includes managing Citi’s real estate globally.

In addition to the Manhattanville College board of trustees, Callahan serves on the board of the American Red Cross of Greater New York, is a member of the Business Committee of Metropolitan Museum of Art, is a fellow at the Foreign Policy Association and serves on the British American Business International Advisory board.
