The workshops, designed for pre-kindergarten to 12th-grade teachers, take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Reid Hall on the college’s campus. The workshops aim to help teachers infuse media education, technology and visual literacy into their classrooms.

The keynote speaker at the event, sponsored by the literacy and communication and media departments, will be Viki Cobb, a former science teacher with an M.A. in secondary school science. Her book, "Science Experiments You Can Eat," established her as an innovator. Also featured as a keynote speaker will be Bianca Inga Giaever, a filmmaker and radio producer.

Workshops include: Seeing Stories: in Action (pre-K-12); Classroom as Creative Media Studio: Simple Techniques, Powerful Possibilities (grades 3-6); Art, Argument, and Affect: Using Persuasive Tests in the Classroom (grades 7-12).

For more information about registration, schedule and workshops, contact Katherine Cunningham at katherine.cunningham@mville.edu. The cost for the event is $25 for the public, $15 for graduate students and free for undergraduates of Manhattanville College.
