Manhattanville To Showcase Alumni, Faculty Artwork

HARRISON, N.Y. — The first art exhibit of the school year at Manhattanville College will feature alumni and runs from Aug. 27 to Oct. 12.

The artwork of Chris Manning, Joyce Chan and Alex Doolan will be displayed as part of the Studio Art Alumni Show in the Brownson Gallery. Sculpture, drawing, photography, collage and painting are the many mediums through which these artists work.

“Manning’s art conveys a sense of contemplation and nostalgia, allowing the viewer to connect on both a personal and aesthetic level, while Chan examines the physical and emotional conditions of certain objects. Doolan paints to tell stories,” said a release from Manhattanville College.

The opening reception will take place 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Aug. 29, including talks from the artists between 5:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Manhattanville faculty will show off their talents at the Arthur M. Berger Gallery beginning with an opening reception Sept. 7 and continuing through Oct. 24.

“We have such a talented faculty at Manhattanville, and we wanted to take the opportunity to showcase their various passions in our first exhibit of the academic year,” gallery Director Tim Ross said in the press release. “Each professor is doing such different and diverse work that it will be great to see them all displayed in one gallery.”
