During Hall’s tenure as president at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, both President Barack Obama and Bill Gates praised the university for its innovative use of technology to support student success. Furthermore, Hall was one of five academic leaders invited to testify in the fall of 2013 before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee concerning innovation in higher education.

Prior to joining Austin Peay, Hall served as associate provost at the University of Mississippi and executive director of a capital campaign to raise $50 million for a new law school facility.

Hall also served as a professor of law at the University of Mississippi School of Law, visiting professor at the University of Texas School of Law, litigation associate in private practice and judicial clerk to the Hon. Will Garwood, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

“From the start I was attracted to the Mercy College mission of 'providing motivated students the opportunity to transform their lives through higher education,'" Hall said. "Now I am committed to it. I believe a college education is about more than accumulating credits, or even preparing for a good job, it’s about transforming a life.”

Since arriving on campus, Hall has been working to enhance the college’s tradition of a “high touch” educational experience for students, in which they are showered with individual attention.

Mercy College Board Chairman Gary Brown will conduct the investiture of the president and Tennessee Board of Regents Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Tristan Denley will be providing the charge.Greetings will be offered to President Hall from different constituencies at the ceremony.

Prior to the official Inauguration on April 17, the college will be celebrating Hall, the students, alumni, faculty and staff with a week of exciting and meaningful events.
