HARRISON, N.Y. -- Purchase College in Harrison has received a grant from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to support the Minority and Women in the Film Industry screening and lecture series.
The $10,000 grant will allow the school to bring film professionals for screenings and workshops. Last year Purchase launched its "Great Directors, Great Films" series of screenings, which brought award-winning directors, cinematographers and actors to campus.
The grant to Purchase is one of 27 to be awarded for the 2013-14 school year. A total of 89 proposals were submitted. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences presents the Academy Awards each year, and is involved in a wide variety of education, outreach, preservation and research activities in the film industry.
