Purchase College seeks individuals who are well-known critics, writers, intellectuals or scholars whose work links literature and the visual or performing arts.

The chair will serve as a critical resource for the college and especially the literature program. Purchase College hopes that the chair member will enrich the vibrant intellectual and cultural community at Purchase by offering a few public programs, smaller panels or workshops and informal meetings with students and faculty.

The salary for the position will be aligned with the amount of experience of the potential chair member.

The chair will have access to resources at Purchase College, which comprised a College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and a School of the Arts. The college is also home to the Neuberger Museum of Art, a world-class museum of modern, contemporary and African art and a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center.

Individuals who are interested may nominate themselves by submitting a letter describing current work and interests and identifying potential areas of collaboration with the Purchase College community.

Nominations should include the name of the nominee, a link to a brief biography and a description of the nominee's current and planned work.

Submissions by email to durstchair@purchase.edu on or before Friday, May 15.
