Purchase College Staff Receive SUNY Chancellor's Awards

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Five faculty and staff members from Purchase College in Harrison received the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Excellence.

The awards were presented by Chancellor Nancy Zimpher to 312 faculty and staff members across SUNY's 64 campuses. Michael Lobel received an award for Scholarship and Creative Activities. Karen Singer-Freeman and Aviva Taubenfeld received awards for Teaching. John Mastracchi received an award for Professional Service. Flori Krivit received an award for Classified Service at State-Operated Campuses.

"SUNY employs an exemplary body of faculty and staff across the state and the annual presentation of these awards underscores our deep appreciation for those who serve SUNY campuses, students, and communities with the highest levels of distinction,” said Zimpher. “Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees.”

Lobel is a professor of art history and the director of the master' degree program program in modern and contemporary art, criticism and theory at Purchase's School of Humanities. Singer-Freeman is an associate professor of psychology in the School of Natural and Social Sciences. Taubenfeld is an associate professor of literature and writing in the School of Humanities. Mastracchi is a 2-D/print media instructional support specialist in the School of Art and Design. Krivit is a grade specialist in the college registrar's office.
