School Of The Holy Child Seniors Receive National Merit Commendations

RYE, N.Y. – School of the Holy Child seniors Annemarie Altomare, Anna Liddy, Mary McAllister, Caitlin Panarella and Mercedes (Miffy) Riley have each been named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Altomare is one of just 16,000 students nationally who will advance to semifinalist.The Holy Child seniors are among 34,000 students nationally who are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. 

“The School of the Holy Child community applauds our seniors for this remarkable achievement and for their commitment to pursue academic excellence and find joy in learning," said Head of School William C. Hambleton.

"At Holy Child, every student is empowered to use knowledge, confidence, collaboration, vision and character to become her best self within the classroom and beyond. We celebrate each of our commended students as they continue to strive to succeed personally and academically,” he continued.

Commended students placed among the top five percent of the 1.5 million applicants who entered the 2016 competition.
