SUNY Purchase Sets Open House For Adult Students

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College, SUNY will host a “Continuing Education Open House” for those men and women looking to enroll in professional certificate programs or personal enrichment courses.

“The professional certificate programs and personal enrichment courses are designed for people to explore their passions, hone career skills, and/or impart new skills toward making a career change,” said Kelly Jackson, director of continuing education at Purchase. “Many of these course offerings take advantage of Purchase College's vast resources (shop for woodworking, studio spaces for art classes, etc.) and expert professors.”

Jackson added since the courses are at night, they are “more accessible for professionals.” Some of the classes in the professional certificate program are appraisal studies , arts management , CSP® home staging , fundraising and board development , health coach training , and interior design . The personal enrichment courses vary from voiceover acting and woodturning to art history and business .

When it comes to the amount of people who already have signed up for the courses, Jackson said 50 people are registered with many more expected to sign up because of a new brochure that was just sent out.

The open house is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in the School of Liberal Studies and Continuing Education’s Music Building.

“The schedule is a true open house,” Jackson said. “The instructors and I will be on hand from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to answer students’ specific questions regarding the various professional certificate programs and personal enrichment courses.”
