DiCarlo Pitches Like a Veteran in Harrison Debut

HARRISON, N.Y. — Harrison's Christina DiCarlo may only be an eighth-grader, but on Tuesday she displayed poise beyond her years.

DiCarlo scattered six hits and struck out three in her first varsity start. She scored her first win as Harrison defeated visiting Scarsdale, 8-4, in a Section 1 softball game.

DiCarlo, who was batting fifth behind catcher Alijah Webb, also had two hits and drove in a run.

"She did a great job," said senior and captain Jenna Webb. "She was calm, focused on what she needed to do and limited the balls she threw."

DiCarlo allowed four runs on four hits through three innings. But she allowed only two hits in the final four innings and faced the minimum of 12 batters. Left fielder Sam Chiarella and first baseman Kendra Deschamps each turned a double play. The Deschamps' double play was unassisted.

In the first inning, DiCarlo collected her first RBI with a groundout, scoring Webb. In the fourth, she singled sharply to left field for her first varsity hit.
