Four-run rally in sixth inning lifts Harrison, 6-5

PATTERSON, N.Y. -- Harrison was down to its final at-bat and facing a three-run deficit, but there was no worry or concern. Instead, Harrison forged a four-run rally that lifted it to a 6-5 victory over Pearl River in the Section 4 Little League Baseball 9-10-year-old winners’ bracket final at Peck Field., Friday.

Harrison will await the team that emerges from the losers’ bracket. Pearl River will play in the losers’ bracket final, Saturday, 10 a.m. The championships game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

The team that ?survives the losers’ bracket would have to beat Harrison twice.

?“It was unbelievable,” said Harrison manager Lou Arlotta of his team’s rally. “The boys are so resilient. Nothing bothers them and they don’t give up. They just keep going and going.”

?Michael Arlotta led off the sixth inning with a walk and swiped second. Paul Hoffman was hit by a pitch. He and Arlotta advanced on a wild pitch. Arlotta scored when Billy O’Meara was safe on an error. Derek Ferraro drove in Hoffman to make the score, 5-4. Christian Pizzutello pinch ran for Ferraro. Michael DiDonato grounded out, but O’Meara scored the equalizer, with Pizzutello moving to third. Jack Wolf stepped in an delivered a single to right bringing in Pizzutello with the winning run.

?“I kept telling the kids that the hits were going to come,” Lou Arlotta said. “We only struck out once and Pearl River was good defensively.” Hoffman allowed two earned runs and struck out five in 5 2/3 innings. Frankie Nannariello closed out the sixth and got the win.
