A decisive fourth period gave the unbeaten Rye Garnets an 8-2 win at archrival Harrison on Saturday in the 83rd edition of Westchester County's premier rivalry, a contest so big it's known by fans from both schools simply as "The Game."

With 3:08 left to play in regulation, Rye running back Conor Murphy's 7-yard touchdown run put the Garnets up 6-2. Rye capped its victory with a two-point conversion pass from Livingston to Chris Santangelo.

After a scoreless first three quarters, Harrison had a first down on Rye's 10-yard line in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter. But the ball was fumbled and recovered at the 2-yard line by Rye (7-0). Garnets quarterback Andrew Livingston was then sacked in the end zone for a safety, putting Harrison (4-3) up 2-0 with 10:32 left to play in the game.

Harrison attempted to come back in its final drive in the last 30 seconds of the game, but with 11 seconds left on the clock quarterback Brendan Pyne threw an interception to Tim DeGraw to end it.

The stands were packed at Harrison High School's McGillicuddy Stadium for the unprecedented 11 a.m. kickoff. This was the first time in the history of the storied rivalry that the game had a morning kickoff, following a post-game incident involving fans after last year's game. The bands and cheerleaders from both schools were on the field, while fans of both teams showed off their pride and cheered on the players.

Harrison leads the series between the two teams, 42-38-3. Last year, Harrison was able to snap a nine-game losing streak with a 21-0 victory over Rye.
