Williams, a freshman at the State University of New York at Albany, was brought in as the clock wound down during Albany's 73-61 loss to the Duke Blue Devils.
Williams, whose parents were in the stands at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, had his name called at the game and on television.
Williams helped lead his Woodlands High School basketball team to a 16-5 record last year.
