PATTERSON, N.Y. -- Harrison is a perfect two for two in the Section 4 Little League Baseball 9-10-year-old Championship. Noa Oki and Michael Arlotta had consecutive doubles in a three-run third inning as Harrison overcame Rhinebeck (District 17), 5-2 in a winners bracket semifinal Wednesday, at Patterson Little League.
Harrison, which beat Warwick (District 19), 10-1 in its opener Tuesday, will play Pearl River (District 18/Rockland County) in the winners bracket final Friday, 3:30 p.m. The winner moves into the final Sunday, 10 a.m.
Rhinebeck led 2-0 going into the bottom of the third, when Harrison struck. Mike DiDonato opened the inning with a walk and Jack Wolf followed him with a free pass. Oki doubled to center field, chasing DiDonato home and Arlotta stepped in and smacked a double to left field, scoring Wolf and Oki.
In the bottom of the third inning, we got aggressive on the casemates and had a couple of delayed steals, which helped us, and we had a couple of key hits, Harrison manager Lou Arlotta said.
Harrison tacked on a run in the fourth and fifth innings, Billy OMeara earned the win, going 4 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts. Oki closed out the game.
In its win over Warwick, Harrison broke open a 1-1 tie with a seven-run fifth inning. Arlotta said the team batted around, reminiscent of its nine-run against Eastchester in the District 20 winners bracket final. Wolf, Frankie Nannariello and OMeara combined on the win.
