HARRISON, N.Y. The Harrison Huskies are the No. 19 seed in the Class A tournament and will face No. 14 seed Walter Panas on Friday. Coach Gary Chiarella shared some thoughts with The Daily Harrison about the postseason after last weeks game against Fox Lane.
Question: How do you think your team improved since the beginning of the season?
Answer: Weve improved tremendously. In the beginning of the season, we turned the ball over 20, 25 times a game But the turnovers have been really good lately, very low. Thats been the biggest thing that we cut out and weve rebounded pretty good the last few games.
What would you say are your teams biggest strengths?
Team unity. I just told them that this is the best 12 kids from one to 12 that weve had in being a team. They get it. We might not be the most skilled but we definitely have it together as a team and thats probably more important than having a couple of skill players and a couple of kids that think that they should be playing more or whatever the case is. So were very happy where we are. We just need a better effort.
What are going to be the keys to success in the postseason?
We have to play with energy, not turn the ball over and rebound and well be fine because we do a pretty good job shooting. But we dont play with energy, were small and were not the most talented group in the world. So we just cant go on our talent. So we need to play with energy, some fire.
