Harrison Football Team Out To Slow Down John Jay Offense

HARRISON, N.Y. – One week after facing a fast White Plains offense, Harrison’s defense will have to play up-tempo ball once again when it faces John Jay-Cross River at 7 p.m. Friday.

Both teams enter this pivotal Class A match-up undefeated. The victor will gain an early advantage when it comes to seeding for the Section 1 Class A Football Championships.

John Jay runs a no-huddle, up-tempo offense which relies on the talents of quarterback Tyler Keech and wide receiver Jack Lambert. And sometimes Lambert will line up at quarterback and Keech will be a receiver. Both players are capable of making a big play with their right arm or running the ball.

“Because those two players have the ability to make big plays, we will have to play tough defense the entire game,” Harrison defensive back Jake Marino said.

Harrison enters the game after a huge second half in a 30-20 win over Class AA White Plains. Marino rushed for a game-high 124 yards and a touchdown. The Huskies are planning to carry the momentum from the second half of the White Plains’ game into John Jay.

“Beating them is important because it will get us on a good roll for the rest of the season,” Marino said.
