Springfield College sophomore Ashley Marino, a Harrison graduate, was named to the New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference softball first team and selected as softball pitcher of the year. Marino, who threw two no-hitters, finished the year with a 13-9 record, a 1.68 earned run average and six shutouts. She also rang up 107 strikeouts in 125 innings and only walked 21. Marino led the conference, limiting the hitters to a .207 average against her. I was very excited about receiving the award and could not have done it without my teammates, Marino said. It was a great year and I cant wait for our season to begin again.
