Harrison (N.Y.) High School graduate Ashley Marino tossed her second shutout in her last four starts, leading Springfield (Mass.) College to a 8-0 win over visiting Babson in the first game of a New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference softball doubleheader sweep on Saturday.
Marino, a sophomore, allowed two hits and struck out five in five innings, as the game was halted because of the mercy rule. In her last four starts, Marino is 3-1, allowing three runs. She is 9-5 overall.
Marino threw her second no-hitter of the season on Tuesday, in a 7-0 victory over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Marino rang up 11 strikeouts.
