Harrison High Wrestlers Win League, Finish 5th At Westchester Championships

HARRISON, N.Y. – The Harrison High School varsity wrestling team won the League Championship and took fifth place in the inaugural Westchester County Championships among a field of 29 teams from across the county held on Jan. 24.

Coached by Harrison’s Vin Nicita and Yonkers’ Coach Pete Vulpone, senior Frankie Barchella took down a tough opponent from New Rochelle to win the title in the 120-pound class and earn outstanding senior wrestler honors.

Sophomore Jay Martins captured the 106-pound title, while senior Dom Schepis took second place honors in the 182-pound class and sophomore Daniel Choe finished in fifth place in the 113-pound weight class.

The team will compete Saturday, Feb. 7 in the divisional championships to be held at Horace Greeley High School.
