Harrison Softball Trio Earns All-Section Honors

Jessica Magnotta began her Harrison varsity softball career as an eighth-grader, earning the starting shortstop position. She would immediately establish herself as a fine player and would continue to progress and flourish each year.

Magnotta, a senior, capped her fine career by being selected all-section. She was not alone though. Junior Ally Brabant and junior Jenna Webb were also named all-Section. Junior Alijah Webb was an all-section honorable mention pick.

The girls received their awards at the annual All-Section Softball dinner at Westchester Manor in Hastings Wednesday. The quartet was the No. 1 through 4 hitters in the lineup and led Harrison back to the sectional quarterfinal round.

Along with her all-section honor, Magnotta, who will play softball at Manhattanville next year, received the Tony Zimbalatti award. Magnotta finishes her career as the program leader in hits, stolen bases, walks and runs scored. She is tied with Brabant for run scored in a season.

Magnotta hit .439 on the season, scored 30 runs and drove in 16. Webb, the centerfielder, hit a sizzling .606, with five doubles, seven triples, three home runs and 36 RBI. She also scored 27 runs. Brabant, the second baseman and lead-off hitter, batted .443, drove in 13 runs and a team-leading 32.
