HARRISON, N.Y. -- A mixed-doubles tennis team from Harrison, representing the USTA Eastern Section, captured the national title at the USTA League Mixed 18 and over 10.0 National Championships held at the Hilton El Conquistador Resort in Tucson, Ariz.
The team, which plays at Rye Racquet Club, is captained by Clinton Beaumont deVries and Harry Walsh, and features Chiara Ann Ciabatti, Jessyca Arthur-Cameselle, Jacques Dutoit, Klara Miklikova-Obiaya.
Team members Harry Walsh and Klara Miklikova-Obiaya are both teaching professionals at Rye Racquet Club.
The Harrison team defeated a team from Atlanta, Ga., 2-1 in the Championship match. Earlier in the day, the Harrison team defeated a team from Washington, D.C., 2-1 in the semifinals. They advanced this far by winning their round-robin flight contest Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21 and 22.
The top four teams in order of finish are Eastern, Southern, Missouri Valley, Mid-Atlantic.
