MAMARONECK, N.Y. – The Mamaroneck Tigers, and many other basketball teams in Westchester County, are in the midst of league play and are jockeying for positions in their respective classes.

The Tigers, led by Coach Tyrone Carver Jr. and leading scorer Matt Mezansky, will host the Tiger Tournament at home on Friday and Saturday. The Tournament should provide the Tigers with an opportunity to add some more wins and, potentially, climb in the Class AA standings.

The Harrison Huskies and the Tigers’ cross-town rival, the Rye Neck Panthers, will participate in the event.

The opening round will be take place on Friday with games at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The consolation game will be at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, while the championship will be played at 7:00 p.m.

Mamaroneck will face Rye Neck on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in what should be a heated rivalry matchup. Before that, the Tigers will host the New Rochelle Huguenots in a crucial league game.

Mamaroneck, New Rochelle and White Plains are all bunched together in the standings in Class AA underneath the dominant Mount Vernon Knights.
