Manhattanville Men Ice Hockey Tie with Williams

RYE, N.Y. – Sophomore Luc Van Natter put home the game-tying goal with 6:02 remaining in the third period and the Manhattanville men's hockey came a fraction of a second away from netting the game-winner in the final minute of regulation before settling for a 1-1 overtime tie with Williams in non-conference game Sunday at Playland Ice Casino.

The Valiants came out strong and peppered the Williams net for 65 minutes as the two teams ranked in the USCHO.com Division III National Poll match up. The Valiants fired 42 shots and allowed just 29 on their senior goalie Pierre-Olivier Lemieux.

With just over six minutes remaining in regulation, senior captain Evan Michalchuk won a faceoff back to the blue line for classmate Dillon O'Hara, whose shot from the line was tipped home in front by Van Natter for his third goal of the season.

Lemieux finished the night with 28 saves.

Williams’ Nick Anderson capitalized on a giveaway in the neutral zone and went in all alone on a breakaway, beating Lemieux for his first of the year and the game’s first goal.

Manhattanville (1-3-1) will play its final ECAC West Conference game until late January on Friday night, as the Valiants return to Playland to host Utica at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on GoValiants.TV beginning at 6:50 p.m.
