Manhattanville Softball Splits With Coast Guard

Jessica Van Galen, a Fox Lane graduate, and Katie Pitcher each had two hits and three RBI as visiting Manhattanville avoided a doubleheader sweep with a 9-5 win over the United States Coast Guard Academy Sunday.

The host won game one, 5-3.

On the day, Laura Montalto and Lynsey Schill, who just concluded an excellent ice hockey season, each had five hits. Montalto homered, doubled and drove in three runs and Schill scored three runs.

Leading 1-0 after two, Manhattanville scored three runs in the top of the third. Kim Angiolillo, a Good Counsel graduate, singled in Ashley Dell and Mamaroneck’s Danielle DeAndrea to cap the inning.
