PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Manhattanvilles Alyssa Taylor threw a four-hitter in a 1-0 win over visiting Wilkes, then completed the sweep with a 12-3 victory Sunday in a college softball doubleheader.
Taylor allowed one run in three innings in game two before turning it over to Kristen Rodopoulos, an Ursuline graduate. On the day, Taylor yielded one run on nine hits and struck out five.
Manhattanville scored the only run in the bottom of the second inning as Brianna Scapperotti, a Harrison graduate, singled in Ashley Dell with two outs. Dell led off the inning with a double.
Wilkes led off the fourth with consecutive singles, but Taylor extricated herself from the threat with an assist from shortstop Shauna Mulkerin. The shortstop threw a runner out at the plate on a ground ball.
Manhattanville erupted for six runs in the first inning of the second game, highlighted by a Mulkerin two-run double. Taylor went 2 for 2, including a two-run homer, and scored twice. Katie Pitcher also had two hits, scored three runs and drove in a run. Jessica Van Galen, a Fox Lane graduate, and Kim Angiolillo, a Good Counsel alumnus, collected two hits apiece.
