Meenan's Late Goal Lifts Manhattanville Over Kings

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Kayla Meenan’s goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation gave the Manhattanville College field hockey team a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over King's (Pa.) Saturday.

With the conference win Manhattanville remains undefeated at 2-0 in Freedom Conference play and 8-1 overall. King's dropped their first conference match falling to 0-1, while 5-3 overall.

Trailing 1-0 after the first half, Manhattanville finally got its break when Meenan (Warminster, Pa.) was able to bury the ball past the right post and into the net for her sixth goal of the year for a 1-1 tie.

Down 2-1 midway through the second half, Valiants forward Megan Greene (Jamestown, R.I.) passed the ball on a penalty corner to classmate Alyssa Tourdot (Blue Bell, Pa.), who shot from the top of the circle and into the net for the game-tying goal.

Meenan then scored the game-winning goal that came as an assist from sophomore midfielder Chelsea Klein (Reading, Pa.)

Amy Hilton (Pittsburgh, Pa) made eight saves in gal for the Valiants to earn her eighth victory in goal. The Valiants were outshot 15-8 and 10-4 on goal and 12-8 on corner kicks but made the shots when it counted.

Manhattanville (8-1) hopes to continue their winning ways when they travel to Pomona, N.J. Tuesday to take on Richard Stockton.
