OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. Purchase mens and womens swimming coach Peter Nestel earned Coach of the Year honors on Saturday from the Skyline Conference.
Nestel earned the honor for the womens team last year. The swimming teams are in just their second season as varsity programs. The womens team finished third at the league finals over the weekend.
As a coach, you always want to have your teams peeking at championships and that's exactly what we did, Nestel said. I'm very proud of their overall team and overall individual performances. I'm also humbled by the conference's decision to name me coach of the year. I'd like to thank the conference and all of the coaches in the league. It was a great year of swimming for the Skyline.
Mount Saint Mary finished first at the league finals.
