HARRISON, N.Y. -- Famed Yankees closer and Harrison resident Mariano Rivera will hang up his pinstripes after this season, New York Post columnist Joel Sherman reported .

Sherman said Rivera, 43, is expected to announce his retirement Saturday.

Rivera, a Harrison resident and former New Rochelle resident who still owns a business there, reportedly just spent a few days in Westchester before returning to Tampa for Yankees spring training.

Last November Rivera, the owner of Refuge of Hope Church in New Rochelle, hosted members of HOPE Community Services at AJ's Burgers near the church, which is currently under construction.

Rivera is well-known for his charitable endeavors on behalf of children and families through his Mariano Rivera Foundation, which also addresses children’s needs through education, health and wellness, and social and economic development in New Rochelle and his native Panama.

Rivera has played 18 seasons. "Mo" has been a relief pitcher for most of his career, and since 1997, has been the Yankees' closer. A 12-time All-Star and five-time World Series champion, he is MLB's all-time leader in saves (608) and games finished (892).
