Duffy's 10 years at the helm leaves an impressive legacy; as skipper he led the Crusaders to 205 wins and four divisional championships. Of those teams, countless almuni continued on to play at the collegiate level.

"We would like to thank Coach Pat Duffy for his long time commitment to the Stepinac Baseball program," said Stepinac Athletic Director Mike O'Donnell. "Under his watch, the Stepinac baseball program became one of the most respected in  our area.

"Pat taught our young athletes accountability, hard work and respect. Pat meant so much to his former players, many who have come back to be on his very successful staff & given back to Stepinac HS."

Looking forward, the Crusaders have tapped assistant coach Keith Richardson as new head coach. An assistant on Duffy's staff since 2012, Richardson hopes to continue the tradition of winning.

"I am extremely grateful to Coach Pat Duffy for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this special program, and for being such a great mentor and friend.  He will be sorely missed and leaves behind a tremendous legacy, along with some very big shoes to fill. I will do my very best to continue the success and tradition that has been built at Stepinac " said Richardson.

While first pitch is more than half a year away, Richardson and his staff are already prepping for the future.
