Westchester County Runners Spring Forward At NYC Half Marathon

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y.. -- Runners from Westchester County got off to a flying start for the spring running season in Sunday’s New York City Half Marathon.

Cathrine Wolden of Pound Ridge won the 40-44 women’s age group in 1:24:15. She was 53 among women. There were 19,455 finishers, and 10,150 women finishers. Wolden won her age group by more than five minutes.

Kathy Zavarella of Chappaqua was fifth in 130:35, and Dianne Leitner of Yorktown Heights was seventh in 1:32:19.

Some other top finishers included Bette Clark of Yonkers, who was eighth in the 55-59 age group in 1:42:35, and Tami Yatabe of White Plains, who was sixth in the 70-74 women’s age group in 2:31:32.

Despite an erratic training schedule during the brutal winter, runners found time to get fit for Sunday’s race, which took place under seasonable conditions. The race started in Central Park and finished in Manhattan.
