Cuomo Orders Tractor-Trailer Ban For I-84 Amid Heavy Snow Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that tractor-trailers will be banned from driving on Interstate 84, along with several other major highways across the state, due to heavy snowfall on Tuesday. The ban went into effect at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Cuomo's office said. The ban comes as a blizzard warning has been issued for the Hudson Valley, New York City and much of Long Island, according to Cuomo's office. Author Laurie Keller Visits Meadow Pond Elementary Students SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Author and illustrator Laurie Keller recently visited students at Meadow Pond Elementary School, the Katonah-Lewisboro School District announced. Keller's visit was with kindergarteners, first graders and second graders, according to the district, which added that the trip was part of its March reading celebration called Pick a Reading Partner. Mount Kisco St. Patrick's Day Parade Carries On Amid Frigid Weather MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Mount Kisco's St. Patrick's Day parade went off without a hitch despite cold weather with temperatures down in the 20s. The parade, which went north on Route 117 and concluded on South Moger Avenue, featured an array of bagpipe groups, Irish dancers, local firefighters, police and an equine shelter with riders and horseback. Turnout was lower than normal amid the frigid weather, but onlookers who showed appeared to be in good spirits. Photos of the parade are attached.

John Jay MS Students Performing In 'High School Musical' CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- Students at John Jay Middle School will perform in renditions of Disney's "High School Musical" later this month, the Katonah-Lewisboro School District announced. Carmel High School Students Present 'Once Upon A Mattress' CARMEL, N.Y. -- Carmel High School students will be performing in four renditions of "Once Upon A Mattress" later this month. Fundraiser Helps Putnam Sheriff's Deputy With Cancer Battle PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A GoFundMe fundraising page is seeking to raise $150,000 to help Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Schmidt pay for his battle with cancer.
