Alert Issued For Extended Traffic Delays Port Chester

Motorists in Port Chester can expect additional delays for an extended period of time as Con Edison nears completion of its longstanding gas line replacement project.

Beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, there are now new lane closures in the area of Westchester Avenue and Pearl Street in Port Chester as Con Edison crews continue upgrading the system.

According to officials, the early start time is to switch from the old main to the newly installed main, marking an important milestone. Officials noted that after months of traffic and delays related to the project, Con Edison expects to be finished within a few weeks.

Officials said that they will attempt to maintain the flow of traffic as best as possible, but motorists can expect delays in the area as they replace old and antiquated infrastructure.
