"I'm really fortunate to be able to work in a great school system with wonderful, generous colleagues," he said from the audience podium, flanked by four members of the organization's community outreach team, who were holding the big check. "They're generous with their time and they're generous with their resources. And tonight we're blessed to be able to present a check for $4,000 to the food pantry."

There are 124 families who use the Harrison Food Pantry, a number Tyler said is up from previous years.

"We also see a need for the Westchester Food bank," said Tyler, who helped implement Harrison High School's International Baccalaureate (IB) program in 2011 as coordinator for the IB Diploma Program.

The Harrison Association of Teachers gives hundreds of pallets of food to the Food Bank For Westchester every year. Additionally, it provides backpacks to students at the start of the year and close to $8,000 in scholarships.
