HARRISON, N.Y. - The Harrison Public Library is looking for candidates to fill vacancies on its nine-member Board of Trustees for a five-year term.
The board is responsible for setting policy and providing financial oversight for the Harrison Library's two branches in downtown and West Harrison under the New York State Education Law. The New York State Board of Regents, the institution responsible for the chartering and oversight of libraries in New York, described the duties of trustees as those of "care, loyalty and obedience."
Anyone interested in joining the Library Board of Trustees should e-mail a cover letter stating interest in the positions, along with a resume, to email@example.com. The Library Board interviews applicants and selects candidates to recommend to the Town Board for their appointments to the Board of Trustees.
According to the library, a trustee must follow the law and ensure that the library's resources are used efficiently and effectively in meeting its goals. Candidates must agree to assist the Harrison Public Library in its mission and desires to guide the institution into the future.
